The nomination of this work signaled that there had been a serious change in science fiction fandom by early 1968, in part perhaps because of STAR TREK but even more because of the invasion of the drug culture. Active fandom grew very rapidly and consistently for the next couple of decades; Historically a much more important book than its (light but definitely fun!) text would indicate.
Nominated for Hugo Award for Best Novel in 1968.
